I tested some more and it seems to be a problem of the i915 driver. I'm currently running on 1600x1200 resolution and I get no video - when I switch to 1024x768 resolution I get video all right. So I think since the internal monitor is just capable of 1024x768 pixel it doesn't know what to display when gstreamer/xine want to write something in a buffer or so...
