1) [possible bug] What - exactly- is the bug report you recieve at boot? When
-exactly- during the boot process do you receive it?
2) [new user question] ubuntu-8.04.1-desktop-i386.iso is several months old.
Notification of available updates after using that image is normal behavior. If
the notifications bother you, you can turn them off.
3) [new user question] What filesystem is your Ubuntu installed on? (fat?
ext3?) If you installed on a fat partition, take a look at bug 252900 for an
explanation of your update error and how to fix it.
Since there is insufficient information to determine the type of bug, if
any, I'm marking this bug 'Incomplete' until more information on #1 is
available.
