yea I installed xubuntu-desktop and that ran fine, and its built in compositor worked, so I thought I'd give compiz a shot. Compiz was already installed thanks to gnome, so i just ran compiz --replace and I got very similar results to what i got when attempting to log in to gnome. Just a cursor and wallpaper, no panels, cursor moved with the mouse but no responses to clicks or keyboard commands. It didnt respond to a reset of gdm and I tried killing compiz and still nothing.
So maybe it has something to do with compiz, is there a way to manually disable compiz when logging in to gnome? -- Intrepid Ibex Alpha 3 20080812 updates freeze Thinkpad R31 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/257450 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
