hi all, just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, and going to CNN gives me the exact same sort of behavior described by Dave Murphy. In addition, going to latimes.com and trying to watch any of the videos linked to a news story, such as this one:
http://tinyurl.com/ylkt54 will crash the entire browser and all its instances. I've spent the entire day trying to get firefox browser video working for youtube, google video and all the news sites I frequent, and I have confirmed the behavior described above with Firefox 1.5 and 2.0, and with Swiftfox 1.5 and 2.0. For some reason mplayer-plugin is crashing Firefox or stalling and not playing at all.
