1) Boot to 6.10 LiveCD. 2) Chose Install Ubuntu 3) Splash screen with Knight Rider style status bar 4) After a while, the status bar begins from the left and reaches the end on the right. 5) Screen blanks, then a garbled X did not start message. 6) Alt-F1-etc works, machine is pingable.
