Public bug reported:

I wish to have my laptop suspend when plugged into my dock with an HDMI
display added. Instead, the system stays on with the monitor becoming
the primary display. Suspending manually will work.

I have tried editing logind.conf and uncommenting
HandleLidSwitch=suspend and the other related items but to no avail.
