Ran killall pulseaudio; rm -r ~/.pulse* Helped for a few weeks then stopped helping. did the following: Step 1: Open Terminal Step 2: Run the following command (copy/paste command into the Terminal and then hit <enter>) gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf In gedit, scroll down and add these 2 lines to the end of the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file: alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel options snd-hda-intel model=fujitsu Then reboot and retest sound using headphones and speakers. If those alsa-base.conf options don't work, please try these 2 lines instead and reboot after making the change: alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel options snd-hda-intel model=auto still no sound. been searching for fixes online to no avail. newb needs help please! thank you ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: pulseaudio 1:1.0-0ubuntu3.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-16.28-generic 3.0.17 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-16-generic i686 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24.
