** Description changed: Contrary to other login problems with Unity 8 (as installed by default in Ubuntu 16.10), I'm not getting a black screen when trying to log in. After entering my password the login screen just sort of hangs; I'm left with the login GUI (which is frozen) and the top panel (which I can use) to display the suspend / restart options. I left it running for quite a while, but nothing happened. I can log in to the default environment easily. - I'm running a System 76 Meerkat, having upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 - without wiping my system drive. + I'm running a System 76 Meerkat, having upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 without wiping my system drive. + --- + ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 + Architecture: amd64 + CurrentDesktop: Unity + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-10-01 (18 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) + Package: unity8 8.14+16.10.20160922-0ubuntu2 + PackageArchitecture: amd64 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-22.24-generic 4.8.0 + Tags: third-party-packages yakkety + Uname: Linux 4.8.0-22-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to yakkety on 2016-10-13 (6 days ago) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo + _MarkForUpload: True ** Attachment added: "Dependencies.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633390/+attachment/4763937/+files/Dependencies.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633390 Title: unity 8 login stalls Status in Canonical System Image: Incomplete Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Contrary to other login problems with Unity 8 (as installed by default in Ubuntu 16.10), I'm not getting a black screen when trying to log in.
