Hi, We'd like to get to the bottom of this problem. Can you please attach these: /var/log/lightdm/unity-system-compositor.log ~/.cache/upstart/unity8.log
And also please let us know more information about your system. You can do this automatically by running this command: apport-collect 1633390 ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Also affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: unity8-desktop -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633390 Title: unity 8 login stalls Status in Canonical System Image: Incomplete Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Contrary to other login problems with Unity 8 (as installed by default in Ubuntu 16.10), I'm not getting a black screen when trying to log in. After entering my password the login screen just sort of hangs; I'm left with the login GUI (which is frozen) and the top panel (which I can use) to display the suspend / restart options. I left it running for quite a while, but nothing happened. I can log in to the default environment easily. I'm running a System 76 Meerkat, having upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 without wiping my system drive.
