This is correct if you have a N86! You shouldn't need to install any software after a firmware update. But as always, make sure that you do a backup of the phone.

On your E66, you will need to install all software after updating the firmware.

Subject: [Talks] N86 firmware question

If I update the firmware on my N86 would I have to install programs over
again like talks? I thought I heard a while back that if you had a N82 you
would not have to reinstall programs. Does this apply to the N86 if what I
thought I heard is true?
