When I did the upgrade from 1.4.5, we had problems with some users not getting the left navigation panel. At the time we were still using the config.php file from the 1.4.5 install, but seeing that the format of the new one was completely different, I put the new one in place and edited the settings relevant to our setup - but I guess the default location for the address books had changed?? Anyway, it's working now.
