that's not my case, all my rules are "move from inbox to somewhere"
i don't even know how to set up rules to move mails from one folder (other
than inbox) to another

this is true, but i thought the orders of the filters should take care of
that

for example, my rules:
1, if subject contains "usb", move to trash
2, if to or cc contains "@redhat", move to redhat

when i get a mail which applies both rule, that is to say, when i get a
mail which contains "usb" in subject and "@redhat.xxx" in "to or cc"

since rule 1 is on top of rule 2, the mail should be moved to "trash"
hence rule 2 won't be applied at all
if this is the case, it should be counted only by the folder "trash", not
by both "trash" and "redhat" at the same time

as you can see, my filter rules are quite simple

1st, move mails that i don't want to trash
then, classify and distribute the left to different folders

that's all, i really don't know how to "tweak" them, any tips ? thanks
