I dropped your schema.xml directly into the Solr example (using Jetty), fired it up, and everything works fine!?

So maybe I am doing something really dumb, but for testing purposes I took a copy of the example schema.xml file and removed all of the fields except for 2 to start with something really basic and it is throwing the nullpointerexception again.
