[Bug 1172294] Re: Dell Inspiron 5521 overheating

2013-05-07 Thread vafsr
I don't know if you already have done that, but it is very clarifying if you post here the result of the command 'cat /proc/i8k'. Before that the module 'i8k' must be loaded into kernel with the command 'sudo modprobe i8k'. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

[Bug 194335] Re: i8kutils does not create /proc/i8k

2013-04-27 Thread vafsr
"ik8utils" is not meant to create "/proc/i8k". This file is created when the module "i8k" is loaded into kernel. "sudo modprobe i8k" works in 12.04 LTS, in Dell Inspiron 15R SE-4670. ** Changed in: i8kutils (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification becaus

The solution to this problem is usually to use i8kutils. I think you would try this solution and post here the results. After that, if the problem remains, a bug report would ask for fixing i8k to support Dell Inspiron 5521. i8kutils solved this same problem in my Dell Inspiron 15R SE-4670. -- Y

2013-04-28 Thread vafsr
i8kutils needs i8k module to be loaded in kernel. After that, I hope i8kfan will function ok. It functions in my Dell Inspiron 15R SE-4670. To load the module, type 'modprobe i8k' in terminal. Did it solve the problem? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs
