I'm having this same problem in 9.04 (AMD64) after a fresh install. I
had the same problems before a fresh install (after a failed dist-
upgrade) but I thought a fresh install would fix it.
If I enable the Nvidia 180 driver from the Hardware Drivers menu, a get
a black screen after the boot-splas
I had the same issue in Gutsy, seems to be fixed now in Hardy. Right-
clicking on the desktop (usually) seemed to fix it.
