I'm having this same problem in 9.04 (AMD64) after a fresh install. I had the same problems before a fresh install (after a failed dist- upgrade) but I thought a fresh install would fix it.
If I enable the Nvidia 180 driver from the Hardware Drivers menu, a get a black screen after the boot-splash right when GDM starts. I can't access any terminals so I have to manually reboot the system. If I boot into recovery mode I can reproduce this exactly with `gdm start` or `startx`. I'm not sure if/where any error reports would be on the system, and since I'm forced to restart after this happens I can't see any debugging output. I have to do an xfix and work with the default drivers for now. I've spent many hours googling this and feel like I'm the only one with this problem. -- [Intrepid] Blank screen on boot using Nvidia accelerated drivers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339489 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
