After online Upgrade Ubuntu 10 -> 10.04
On boot keeps trying to mount "UDEVD-WORK/dev/null" which fails
because it does not exist.
Forum thread says this is a fstab file problem. Various suggested fixes
do not work.

It is in the Main Menu editor and I do NOT have it enabled.
But if it is not to be used, it should NOT be in the Main Menu edit
tree.

Ubuntu 9.10 - Menu Item "Report a Problem" Under "System Tools" NO Wo
I think I found the cause.
This version of PAN uses "xterm" as the default editor. Not only that, the
default HTML is
"mosilla."
In Ubuntu had to change the HTML handler to "firefox," and the editor to
"gedit."
I can now send a new post in PAN without PAN closing, just the editor

In the above command, IF "sa1" = swap partition, that is wrong. The
swap is SDA5, which means the command should be to "sa5"

Today a pop-up dialog to Upgrade to 18.04 opened.
Tried it and it seemed to run OK, BUT one package could not be installed
(couldn't find?!)
But this method of upgrading does not offer to roll-back if there were
errors.
Result, on reboot my laptop crashed.
Recovered image backup, back to normal

Tried running Ubuntu 18.04 Upgrade from pop-up again today.
16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS Upgrade
Got 2 error msgs during run:
1) Could not install 'systemd-shim'
2) Could not install
'/var/cache/apt/archives/systemd-sysv_237-3ubuntu10.3_adm64.deb' package

Tried upgrade via Terminal and failed again. Too many 'association' failures.
I GIVE UP. I'll stay with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
Upgrading to 18.04 via CD is not an option I like, since I do not want
to reinstall all the 3rd-party apps I have and go through Ubuntu
settings again.

UPDATE
Ever since I use "sudo mdadm --manage /dev/null" back in 11/2010, I've
had the boot problem only ONCE.
So that seemed to fix MY problem.

2 - Found out that my menu has a FOLDER with the same icon as
[Applications] called [Other].
This [Other] folder has all my old menu options, AND whenever I try to
[Add] an Item inside a folder (example [Games],) it is added to [Other].

The 'remove power' is the main issue. Removing/disconnecting ANY
electronic device with power still applied is dangerous. This is the
reason for [Safely Remove] option for mounted USB sticks.

Again, putting a drive to 'sleep' is NOT correct fix!
You have to REMOVE POWER first, to *safely* remove/disconnect a USB
drive.
That is what Safely Remove did in older versions of Ubuntu.

The "won't fix" decision is not by users and IMHO is bogus. Ubuntu
12.04 had the 'Safely Remove' feature and it worked. 'They *removed* it
in 12.10 version.
'They' are also saying that Windoz CAN have the feature but Ubuntu
cannot, which is BS.

According to "About Ubuntu" I am running v11.04 but I do not remember

I just changed to Linux Mint 10 for my laptop.
If you install SysInfo (gets it from Ubuntu Repository) you have the
same problem with v0.7-3, I uninstalled it.
Turns out the Mint "HardInfo" data + benchtest utility gets all the info
anyway. It's also much faster than Ubuntu's test utility
Note, as of this time-date stamp, this CONFIRMED bug is still
UNASSIGNED.
Is anyone up at Conical, etc, listening? Or are "they" just ignoring ALL
of us. If I were the only one, I would not be complaining.
