When the Kubuntu adept-notifier icon appeared with new software updates
yesterday (Nov. 26, 2008), I clicked it and went through the normal
software update procedure. When I rebooted this morning after
installing extra RAM, I found that the nvidia driver had reverted from

Just to be complete: upgrading to Intrepid got the 177.80 driver, as
expected. All of my video problems are gone on kernel 2.6.24-19-server,
but X11 won't load the nVidia kernel module for 2.6.27-9-server. I'll
just use 2.6.24-19-server. Even the screen problems I had with UT-2004
are gone with

The systemsettings program on my upgraded Kubuntu 9.04 systems (two of
them in front of me right now) don't show a user management icon. I've
upgraded this system in-place from 6.10 all
Subsequent systems upgrades have not caused any additional problems.
The kded daemon has always occasionally gone berserk on all of my
systems, but the particular problem I reported here has not recurred
with newer kernel upgrades.

This problem seems to have been fixed with Gutsy, but it's hard to be
100% certain. My remote server list populates so fast now that I can't
be sure I'm selecting one before the list is completely built.

I recently upgraded one of my computers from Kubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 beta
using "sudo adept_manager --dist-upgrade". When I click on the Printer
Configuration icon in System Settings, I get the following error
message:

I'm not sure if this is the right place to report/ask this. I'm trying
to develop an application for LVM2 management, and have LVM2 libraries
installed, but there are no LVM2 header files on my system. There is no
lvm2-devel package available through apt-get or Adept, either
I couldn't find anything called feisty-proposed, but I have the
Unsupported and Pre-released repositories selected (the latter being
what I think you mean).
I unselected them both, refreshed the package list, uninstalled
Subversion, and tried reinstalling.
"sudo apt-get install subversion" gives
"You need to uninstall libsvn1 too when you downgrade."

I cannot write to my CDRW, mount NFS shares, view my /media folder via
Konqeuror, and do a host of other items since the update. KDE boots
with multiple copies of kded, and much of my desktop acts very bizarre

I have more information. I found that there were multiple copies of
kded running (in this case, four copies). The first copy showed in "ps
aux" as:
kded [kdeinit]
The other three showed as:
kded [kdeinit] --new-startup
kded [kdeinit] --new-startup
kded [kdeinit] --new-startup

have 3 printers which needed. This is not suitable for installations
with large numbers of printers. I can't believe SUN let this bug stand
for so long. Actually, I can. Proprietary products have this kind of
track record.

uninstalled it. My system is still reporting:

I upgraded from Edgy to Feisty on Saturday, April 14, 2007 using update-
manager (which worked very well until it encountered Myth), and ran into
this problem on my previously functional MythTV setup. Now nothing will
install via apt/adept without error messages. The most promising

mythtv-database with, "sudo apt-get --purge remove mythtv-database", and

System Settings -> Network Settings -> Routes tab. Set default gateway.
