I can reconfirm that tirc 1.2-11 from hardy has the described problem,
and that the package in hardy-proposed, tirc 1.2-11ubuntu0.1, uninstalls
successfully. A token effort at using tirc as an irc client didn't show
any obvious regressions, either.

I am able to reproduce the problem with gparted 0.3.5-1ubuntu3 from
hardy; however, I still see the problem when using gparted
0.3.5-1ubuntu4 from hardy-proposed (after a reboot, to ensure that hal
and udev were in sane states).
Specifically, the way I am reproducing this is with a USB thumb drive
I am able to reproduce the problem with alacarte 0.11.5-0ubuntu1 in 8.04
and can confirm that alacarte 0.11.5-0ubuntu1.1 in hardy-proposed has a
working undo function. Other functionality appears to still work
properly, though it might be nice for alacarte to jump to the menu entry
that it just rev
I can also confirm that, after upgrading from base-files
4.0.1ubuntu5.8.04.2 from hardy-updates to base-files 4.0.1ubuntu5.8.04.3
in hardy-proposed, the number of files with guid 999 is significantly
reduced but not eliminated; the ones remaining were the floppy ones
