Same problem here with Karmic, kernel 2.6.31-20-generic. Battery life
decreased to 30% of that in Jaunty (1h to 20 min.).
Top causes for wakeups:
28.6% ( 44.7) : hrtimer_start_range_ns (tick_sched_timer)
13.6% ( 21.3): extra timer interrupt
8.1% ( 12.7): ehci_hcd:usb
