To follow up with my situation,
1. I don't use FSTAB to mount network drives anymore. As long as I'm
using applications that integrate well into Gnome I'm OK.
2. This same bug will cause Nautilus to pause when connecting to Network
storage devices. I have a netgear SC101 I found software that all

I'm not entirely sure if this the same bug but here is the gnome-power
applet. It thinks that my battery is a 74Wh battery and it is actually a
47Wh. Hence why it thinks the battery is at 63%. I have an HP f700
series laptop, AMD athlon X2.

I can confirm this fix. On all Ubuntu workstations the Icon appears
properly after removing the bookmark and adding it back.

I'm going to have to setup a samba mount and test it. I got away from
doing that most because of this issue. It would be nice if this has been

I'm running Gutsy Gibbon with all updates. This happens to me also. In
fact this has happened with all my installations of Gutsy on entirely
different hardware. The only similarity is that I've been using Samba,

It seems I mis-read the bug. Are you guys saying that proper behaviour
is that a mount in /mnt is not supposed to show up on the desktop, and
nautilus? Also that /media is the only folder where a mount is supposed
to? I've been using /mnt since Edgy Eft. It just sounded like a better

It's not fixed in any of my installs of 8.04b with firefox 3.0b4. It's
been so long since I've seen the icon I don't remember the last time I
saw it. Currently NHL.com, NBA.com sportsline.com, Ebay.ca, and all the
other bookmarks have Icons. Nothing for Ubuntuforums.org though.

I should add that my system was an upgrade, using LVM with EXT4. I'm
honestly debating about backing up, blowing it up and installing fresh
