I have the same problem with iwl3945 on a Tecra A8. The result from "modinfo

I just tried the daily (26 April 2011) version of Ubuntu 11.04. The keyboard
backlight problem has not been solved for my Toshiba
A665D-S6059. With acpi=ON the lights do not work, with acpi=OFF the lights do.
This has been a problem for me since 10.10.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A665D-S6059 with the same problem using an
update from 10.04 to the final 10.10. Another curious fact is that when
it boots (with acpi=off) the machine will shutdown when requested, but
will not turn off without pressing the power button. The first restart

After update to 10.10, testing the webcam for G-mail video chat crashes
Firefox (3.6.11). Skype does not crash but when testing the camera the
webcam light comes on but video does not appear. Both of these worked in
10.04. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite A665D-S6059.

That confirms my suspicion and I agree that the system is severely
limited without acpi - but as I indicated, the boot will not proceed if
acpi is left on. I suspect that the requirement of booting twice is also
a consequence of acpi=off. It looks like the shutdown does not complete
