That confirms my suspicion and I agree that the system is severely
limited without acpi - but as I indicated, the boot will not proceed if
acpi is left on. I suspect that the requirement of booting twice is also
a consequence of acpi=off. It looks like the shutdown does not complete
and the first boot somehow completes the process. That, of course, is a
guess. I have found a number of other bugs with this distribution (no
webcam, e.g., which I understand is a consequence of a change in the
ia32-libs package). Any suggestions for getting rid of the aicp=off
condition, other than waiting for a fix, would be welcome.
