I tried what has been proposed in Bug #47971:

- modifying the xorg.conf file
... with no results!
Finally the solution was in

The workaround works, but it's not a solution. Strange that there's no
activity for such a simple bug.

Since my update to saucy, evolution isn't translated in french anymore.
In package language-pack-gnome-fr-base (1:13.10+20131012), I've found:
'/usr/share/locale-langpack/fr/LC_MESSAGES/evolution-3.6.mo'
but evolution is version 3.8.4-0ubuntu1.

Here is the pulseaudiolog.
I followed the steps described in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log. I only had to do a 'sudo killall

During the log, I :

PS : I tried booting with another system on an USB disk. I had the same
behaviour, so I don't think it's a misconfiguration (or it's on both
systems).

Ahem-hem,
When I tried last time (see comment #6), I forgot to also switch my
external amplifier to digital "DIN" input and not the "default" digital
input (cough-cough)... So, yesterday I tried again and the sound worked.
The problem I had few monthes ago seems to be gone, but I will still

Sorry we were in vacation.
For comment #13, I can't try digital capture as I don't have digital
devices anymore for input.
However, the bug came back again. Yesterday my wife had no digital sound output
anymore, so I switched back to analog. It may be a transient hardware problem?
I will try to

Problem seems to be solved for me (maybe to soon for rejoycing but if
someone else can test for his case).
My previous mouse was not a USB one but a PS2 one. In the BIOS I have
parameters to support USB mouse and keyboard. These parameters were
disabled. I've changed the parameters to "enabled" an
same problem here, not just after upgrading to 9.10 but after an update.
Tried to clean by uninstalling all "en" locales and re-install "fr" locales

Solved by manually add install "openoffice.org-l10
