I have faced the same problem and Ubuntu asked me to send a report,
which I did. The cause of the problem was that despite hitting enter
several times in the terminal window, when the license was displayed,
nothing happened. It simply hung in there. It was after many retries
that I hit Ctrl+C. This
I used the apt-get manager to install sun jdk, that is why I was in the
terminal. For the time being I have installed open jdk instead of the
sun jdk 1.6.

Same thing happened to me. Was changing icon themes when it crashed. All
panels disappeared and had to do Ctrl+ Alt + Backspace to get out and

sense. But Audacity indeed does report a crash when I start it next time
if I had closed it earlier with a project open and the recording monitor
enabled.

It happened again. I logged on, opened an mp3 file by right clicking on
it and opening with Audacity, and then close the window. And the same
SIGSEV fault happened.
I was not able to reproduce it in the same session.
Additionally, I hear a lot of unpleasant clicks and pops when I try to
open Auda

The first one, due to monitoring, is not a crash in the apport sense.
Audacity reports a crash when started the next time.

Some more investigation ...
I reverted to Kernel to 5.3.18 ... also installed xserver-xorg-video-intel.
strace for gnome-shell shows no more errors on mouse / touchpad activity
and load remains low ..

These are the logs at the time when event occurred.
But unfortunately nothing helpful was there in the logs.
I am not sure about how can I provide you the proper logs even if this
happened again.

This is a KVM base machine which faced the issue not a guest machine.
In kern.log there was no Call Trace found during the time of issue.
Also nothing was found in /var/crash/* too.
Are you aware of any possible reason due to which its not logged in any of
the log files?
