I have tried two apps (minicom and smsclient) with to ACM modems, and received
7E1 data does not have the parity bit stripped. I can check with STTY and it
shows parenb cs7 -parodd when the port is being used in 7E1 format, but the
received data has the parity bit passed th
prematurely, no warning...
Perhaps hiding all the detail of startup by writing to /dev/null is not
such a clever idea?

I've now had a chance to try this with Mandriva 2011.0 and Mageia 1.0.
They are using the same generations of xorg and kernel that Ubuntu 11.10

I started seeing this bug in Ubuntu Natty, and I don't know if the cause
was the same but I'm adding my experience here for others that find it
via googling. In my case, it turned out that since the upgrade, my
"suspend" button was now being interpreted as a "hibernate" button
instead. There was

down screen sharing on the Mac, vinagre reports that the connection has

I followed the instructions, but I don't think it's going to help. if I
tail the log while pulseaudio is running, nothing happens when I plug my
usb device in. It looks like pulseaudio has no idea the device exists.
Maybe it's a HAL issue?
aplay -l and lsusb still show the device as being attach

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition in a partition on a Acer
Aspire. I did this using a USB. After install I reset the BIOS boot
queue to its original settings. Every time I boot the netbook with any
mass storage device plugged in to USB (flashdrive, ipod,
I can confirm this in the recent release of Firefox 4. As Steve
mentioned, it's easily reproducible simply by performing a Google Image
search. This causes high CPU usage from the X server and on my computer
at least, the display temporarily freezes.

Bug still occurring in natty, error messages exactly the same as before
(except that serial number of failed request has changed, which I think

The fonts are there. I know this because I can use the various control-
mouse button options to show the menus correctly. It is only when I try
to perform the same action using a function key that the program
crashes. For the record, I just want to use the function keys because
control-mouse button

I use Ubuntu alongside Vista on my Dell Studio Hybrid via a 32"
flatscreen monitor (setting 1360x768) . I have upgraded Ubuntu from
Maverick to Natty and (the process stalls and freezes half way through
and the only way to abort is to power off the Studio Hybrid). However, I
