I just upgraded to Intrepid from Hardy, where there was no problem, and
am expriencing the same phenomena. I'm using Opera 9.63

I automatically updated this package on Oct. 7, and whenever I try to
play music, or when I login to Ubuntu static plays instead of music.
Occasionally, a bit will come through but it's mostly static and across
all applications not just V
