Wine applications
As an experiement I've changed the apps place to use relevancy ranking
instead of alphabetic sorting for searches. When there is no search we
still list alphabetically of course. Modulo stopwords[1] I think this
works very well - a lot better than the current approach at least.

The problem with "disk" not finding Baobab was because we excluded
Baobab back in the days where Unity was netbook-only. That issue has
been fixed in another bug. You should see this when you get unity-place-
applications-0.2.36 or higher.

Evince is also hidden from the normal GNOME menus (like for example also
Eye of Gnome) and the apps place just respect those settings. I shall
not be the judge on what's right here (frankly I am more or less with
you on this matter), but I think it's important that we follow the
system configuratio
xterms works perfectly well for me and I can't reproduce any of the
symptoms. Would be most odd if this was GPU related (i have an i945
here).

Hi, and thanks for reporting this bug. It was filed against the "old"
version of Unity where we'll have a new and almost entirely rewritten
version for Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal). This unfortunately means that
we wont be able to find resources to investigate and fix bugs in the old
version.
