Downloaded the proposed Hardy-2.6.24-19 kernel yesterday and resume from
suspend no longer functions. I get the gnome panel on top and a white
screen for everything else and a mouse pointer. The system is a Dell
Latitude D820 with an Nvidia video card (using the 169.12 driver)
Can't confirm 8.10, but definitely 8.04 LTS. This is a serious problem
that essentially makes the library unusable.

Hi Bryce,
A few weeks after reporting the problem the restricted drivers appeared and I
was able to install them on the computer. I then installed the nvidia settings
tool. Having done that I had to plug in my CRT to get a full list of
resolutions and set 1024x768 as my default before switching
HP Pavilion dv6000t with same problem. For me this is really difficult
because I never get a low-battery warning and my auto-suspend never
happens... I've lost significant work and time due to this bug.
Workaround seems to work for me, however. Thanks!

- I agree that making eject suid is a suboptimal solution. No argument
there.
- I believe that eject is different vs. a simple umount. It does
something to the USB device, though I'm not sure what. This is best

The simplest way that I've found to fix this is to navigate to:
/usr/share/themes/DarkRoom/gtk-2.0/
and replace your gtkrc file there with the one attached. I'd make a
backup just in case something goes wrong, though.

Ok, the problem is caused by the absence of these files:
/usr/share/gnome/help/libs/global.ent
/usr/share/gnome/help/libs/gnome-menus-C.ent
They should be installed by the ubuntu-docs package, but apparently are
not on your system. They are present on mind. I will dig a bit further
into this.

This bug is still present in Ubuntu 8.10. The icons for gnome-power-
manager are still extremely poor and don't reflect the actual state of
the battery.
In the attached screenshot the icon seems to indicate that I am very low
on battery and have around 20%, in fact I have 49.6% battery left,

I'd opened a bug upstream on gnome-power-manager, but have realised that
this bug is indeed just a bug in the Human icon set, and is therefore
Ubuntu specific. I'll raise it on the mailing list to see if anyone is
willing to fix it.
