Scott, this is a regression on all kind of hw machines that do not have
a video card and use serial for output. never mind the ia64. The
installer used to do the inittab magic at install time. Perhaps we need
to check with Colin what needs to be done since inittab is not used
anymore?

boot with root=/dev/md0
check if the UUID used by grub is the same as the one in /dev/disks/by-uuid
(the symlink should point to ../../md0)
If it is not the same UUID, fix it in /boot/grub/menu.lst
update the initramfs or make sure to have the latest mdam
I don't think booting from raid makes any difference here. The crc error
comes from the kernel that can't unpack the initramfs and as a
consequence the modules required to access the raid are not loaded.

i have noticed this too. It seems that neither partman-lvm or partman-
raid can access their submenus if there are no changes to commit on the
disk layout.
It looks to me like the question that ask "In order to go further you
need to commit the changes to disk! " is doing something
wrong.
Matt this package has been dropped also from upstream (debian). It would
only introduce another delta that we don't really want to carry around.

It is still a bug :) the irqpoll option is a workaround for some broken bios.
afaik it's possible to autodetect them. Can you please attach the output from
dmidecode and lshw?
(you might need to run them as root or with sudo).

According to Karl dapper doesn't work either and so it's not a
regression and I am removing the target from edgy.
Looking at the logs i think there at least 2 issues here.
One is that the card is on PCI slot 0001:06:03.0. note that 0001 domain at the
beginning that's not usually present on other
Ben, yes it's an Xserve G5. Never mind the difference in the BusId
between the report and the tests. They used 2 different machines but we
did verify that.
Changing the BusID doesn't help, commenting it out makes the server
"freeze" for a bit and then come back later.
