It's noteworthy that it comes with freedos installed, which crashes
after some use, and also a xubuntu 8.04 cd.

Arch linux stalls during "loading Udev uevents" and outputs a blank screen. I
get a blinking cursor in the upper left corner when I run the Ubuntu live CD
with "acpi=off".
I also get a GRUB error 2 when I try to boot Archlive from a USB drive unless I
switch the "order of the hdds" whatever that

This occurs in Hardy Alpha 3 with the latest update. The version of
gnome-system-utils is 2.21.5.1-0ubuntu1 and also I'm using Xubuntu.

dbus is running, I ran dbus-monitor and "ps x | grep dbus". dbus-
monitor outputs nothing when I click on Unlock, though it does upon
launch and close of the apps. I'm attaching the output of these.

I have the same problem. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L40-12K. In the BIOS
there is the option Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode, which can be set to Dynamically
Switchable or Always Low. when it is set to Always Low powertop reports the
state as:
C0 (cpu running) (100%)
C1 0,0ms (0%)
C2 0,0ms (0
I upgraded from Xubuntu 7.04 to 7.10 and the Fn key combos on my Toshiba
Satellite L40-12K stopped working, including the brightness adjusting
ones. Also Xfce's Ctrl+Esc shortcut doesn't work now, it works maybe
once in 20 tries. This is also the case with a fresh install of Xubuntu
7.10.
