Hi
I am not quite sure if this actually "is" a bug, but I find it quote annoying
and I havent seen it on other operating systems.
When the notebook is in Standby S3 state do the following:

On KDE dev I have found that someone compiled xorg 1.5.2 packages for

Did you add the PPA to your apt sources list or did you just
download the xorg-ati packge?
Because when you use the PPA via apt it updates a couple of packages, so I
cannot know which
one actually fixed it at least for the time beeing, maybe I will get a

Hi
In Fedora forum they recommended / found a fix that involved acpi functions of
the kernel.
In addition most people reported that this issue is doesn t occour with older
kernel i.e. 2.6.27-11.
There seems to be a fixed xorg driver for intel cards (last page in the

The new mesa packages ubuntu 3.1 for jaunty seem to introduce some sort
of input lag on my system when compositing is activated.
It can be reproduced with the following:

I have already gone back to the standard packages. The problem has gone

Hi
I have installed the 3.1 mesa packages yesterday. Until this morning everything

But just recently the system input got sluggish again.

Hi,
@Tormod Volden:
Just tried new xorg-radeon driver from your PPA.
The new radeon driver doesnt fix my opengl freeze problem when

@ Wolfgang Jeltsch:
I know that dfaure's problem isn t necessarily the same problem as ours. But
there are quite a couple of Kwin / Xorg freeze problems when using compositing

The problem itsself seems to

So now u can check if you already have those packages.
If this fix does not resolve our problem we have to keep working to
figure it out...

Sorry I am mistaken the bug was fixed in the package mesa - 7.4-0ubuntu4
for KARMIC!
For jaunty it is fixed in mesa 7.4-0ubuntu3.1 as you can see here (it is
the fixed talked about in #368049):

@3ntix
As I have written above on 2009-05-05 I do agree with you.
@ Wolfgang:
Well Ubuntu and Fedora are a little "on the edge" when it come to new packages
and kernels this is usually something good but can also lead to some problems
as wee see here.

Hi Thomas
The Bug report looks very like the one I submitted. (Bug # 350766)

Hi
The freeze issue is with Jaunty standard driver (dont know which it
selects cause xorg.conf doesnt show a driver name) and with the "radeon"
driver.
Currently I use the following settings:

Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "radeon"

Hi
The problem occurs with the default settings of following drivers:
"radeon"
"radeonhd"
I am currntly using the following options:
Optio "RenderAccel" "on"
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "AccelDFS"
Option "DRI"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "on"
Option "EnablePageFlip" "1"
Option "ColorTiling" "
Ok here we go:
Driver "radeonhd" is totally useless because:
1) crashes even faster than the other drivers, as soons as glxgears is running
for 10-30secs
2) painfully slow (800fps)
interesting: driver crached plasma including crash report (never
happened with other drivers)
Driver "radeon":

Hi
For me all kernel version of 2.6.29 fixed the freeze issue, including -5 and -6.
I have tried several 2.6.30 versions in may, all of them re-introduced the
freeze issue so that I stick to the 2.6.29 kernel version for now.
I hope this will get fixed, otherwise I am stuck with Jaunty for pretty
