The workaround gives partial audio. The right speaker is the only one
working, which makes music a little dodgy. I upgraded to Alsa x.19 and
this did not solve the issue, so it lies elsewhere.

The kernel only processes the events the upper levels tell it to do. The
comments indicate that the events
are being generated/recoginzed by ACPI etc. in the kernel but there is nothing
in userland to handle it properly.
Hotkeys is the place to start. Where these buttons go after that may affec
this crash is caused by memory exhaustion and there is (rarely) a graceful way
out for such an event. The spec
calls for a minimum of 256MB for that reason. Given that the live cd and its
use of unionfs is a special case
version of the O/S, this will not be fixed.

I tried a suggestion from the forums that fixed it (and seems to be
fixing it for everyone else):
"Please go to CCSM, general options and uncheck "unredirect fullscreen
windows". Then see if it still happens."
Worked like a charm. Now the question is, what does disabling that screw
up? :-)

Under jaunty beta, I've noticed that if I unplug and replug the USB
keyboard, it works after the first keypress. The first key gets lost.
Works fine from that point on. This is at the jaunty login. This is on
a macbook pro 5,1 which has usbhid blacklisted and reloaded in the
/etc/modules file aft
Also seeing it. Do we need to delete our cache after applying the
patch? I'm wondering if having a caching option might be interfering
with testing this patch

Oops. It looks like it's ANY mpeg. I had some mp4's in the same
directory that it was playing fine. Xine, mplayer, VLC .. everybody
plays them fine except Totem. Totem is reporting the video codec as

Only 2 presents a working gdm session; for 1 & 3 I had to fallback on the
console.

Sorry, I did not make myself clear. KMS only enters into this picture
because there have been some reports that during this transition period
to KMS, the kernel and Xorg have not played well together. This is
simply a "heads up" until the next Alpha appears. There have been
plenty of side issues

In your case, the module was not loaded at suspend time so there is no
unload to do. What is needed is a bus scan at some point (at the end?)
in resume. That is effectively what you did by plugging it in after
resume. When the system starts up, it does a bus scan and generates the
needed events

This might be worth following up, as it's a very nice feature for someone
migrating from Windows? The very first thing I do when moving to a new Windows
PC is to transfer my favourites and cookies.
And hopefully this isn't too difficult? The IE export to cookies.txt uses an
ancient Netscape form

I partially agree.
This drawer delay has been around FOREVER and no movement whatsoever
has been made on it. It seems as if the bug is well documented with
various cases where the behavior does and does not appear (seems to be
tied to compiz as the drawers behave as expected when compiz is turned
When i go back to normal mode everythings fine.
The version of Rhythmbox is 0.12.0.

Agreed, orbiting KDE cursors are a bit useless here. I have had to resort to
my Nikon DSLR and just shoot frames until I finally got one that made sense.
The fact that you got to X and the KDE logo is a good sign, of sorts. Try
adding "single"
to the boot command line, leaving the delete of "
Forward porting to Karmic for testing. A number of issues were found,
including 32<->64 bit bugs that would indeed crash things. This code as
a ways to go in order to be merged and supported.

Hi the good news is I've finally got the screen to work on intrepid.
I followed your instructions above for both TMDS and LVDS neither worked (could
still here session starting up though)
So I tried
In section "Section "Device"" add the line:
Option "monitor-VGA" "VGA"
Then the following
