** Description changed: Binary package hint: audacious ## PROBLEM: My problem is that audacious won't play a wav file when pulse audio is - selected as the ouput plugin under the playback preferences. + selected as the ouput plugin under the playback preferences. Audacious + does play MP3's fine. I haven't tested any other formats. + + Also, wav support works in Totem if that is any help. ## SIMILAR BUT NON-DUPLICATE PROBLEM: - 232305 audacious does not play wav files correct when output is pulse audio Bug #232305 concerns audacious playing wav file, plays them "gapped" so that the sound stutters. In my installation of Jaunty Jackalope (Ubuntu 9.04), audacious doesn't play wav files at ALL. So I think this is a different issue. ## WHAT I HAVE TRIED: I have tried switching out the output plugin selected in the playback preferences to us ALSA instead of pulse audio and that did not correct the problem. A number of forums and blog posts had listed that as a possible work around and, unfortunately, it didn't work. Even if it had, however, it still seems like a shipped bug if the default, pulse audio, didn't work. ## TESTING: I downloaded a number of wav files from google searches and tried them and none of them worked.
