Any thoughts for post #162? I'm pretty desperate here - I can't live
with no networking on this brand new laptop indefinitely and it's
beginning to look like I'm destined for Windows or a return of the
laptop - neither of which is desirable to me. I would even welcome a

lzming - thanks for this! I had tried that driver with no success. I
have used your patch - I ran into some issues with applying it and it
constantly asking me which files to patch. More on that in a moment. I
am getting better results, although not there yet.

Hi lzming - I have done as you asked. I had to use gedit though as I
don't have vim and I'm not very proficient with vi. All commands I
executed and the output of them is attached in output.txt

and bought a usb wireless device which was pretty choppy online. I read
your post and decided to get the latest driver here:

I have a similar problem as carfer in post 152. I've been
troubleshooting it for some time and even contacted realtek support to
no avail. After several drivers from them and several loads of Ubuntu,
they said "it's your environment". So I reloaded windows 7 on my 64bit
Toshiba Satellite p505-s8
I had the same issue and this command worked for me:
sudo apt-get install -V libglapi-mesa-lts-trusty libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-
trusty xserver-xorg-lts-trusty xserver-xorg-input-all-lts-trusty
xserver-xorg-video-all-lts-trusty libgl1-mesa-dri-lts-trusty x11
-xserver-utils-lts-trusty libglapi-mesa-lts-t
I can confirm this problem for another device. When trying to run a
ubuntu-bug report regarding no sound over hdmi on my dell studio hybrid,
this bug was listed. I have followed the wiki to get the newer alsa
version and would be happy to provide the ubuntu-bug report if anyone
needs me to. Let
