I can confirm this problem for another device. When trying to run a ubuntu-bug report regarding no sound over hdmi on my dell studio hybrid, this bug was listed. I have followed the wiki to get the newer alsa version and would be happy to provide the ubuntu-bug report if anyone needs me to. Let me know.
