Reproducible: It's unpredictable. I don't know what is causing it.
What steps: However, it tends to fail more when I am starting the computer
after a long time. Say I am booting it in the morning, and the keyboard works
at the grub screen, but then it won't just work at the login screen.

I saw a very similar problem. When I edit the task, the time is entered
at 11:00am, let's say. However, on evolution calender view, it shows the
time to be one hour earlier at 10:00 am. (See attachment.) Not hard to
guess, the alarms are being rung at the wrong time.

I ran an update using
#sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade
And the grub was updated. After the update, I can't see windows on my
grub menu- in fact there's no menu anymore. My machine boots straight
into Ubuntu. I couldn't find /boot/grub/menu.lst either.

What about a "search all" choice? Why do I have to choose whether the

No, if I try to enter 2.5899 for example, the spreadsheet changes it to

It's not only Synaptic that's affected. I had trouble using thoggen
because of the same problem.
How about a scrollable desktop? So that the two virtual desktops are
stacked one above the other and one can sort of click and drag the bare
desktop (avoiding any objects/files) and scroll?

I often have trouble clicking something because the help text comes up
in the hated yellow box moment I hover my mouse over it. Making it
impossible for me to click the button.
For example, in the attached screenshot, I was trying to drag the
favicon into my bookmarks toolbar
Update on problem #3: I had my "/home" encrypted. Now I reinstalled my
system without encryption, and the freeze problem seems to have been
solved. This was the most serious usability issue- Ubuntu team should
look into it.
Other problems (#1, 2, and 4) persist.

keyboard was freezing), so I could not use apport. That's why there is

was solved, I booted into OpenSUSE using a live CD, and it seemed to
work. But while installing, the installer crashed, and that was that.

Even more problems:
3. Sometimes, during startup, the computer freezes at the blank screen just
before the login screen. No disk activity is seen during those freezes.
4. It's not detecting the battery. It always thinks it's on AC power. Even
"power management" does not have "On Battery" tab.

I tried to install Ubuntu on my new AO521-3782, which I bought
specifically for Ubuntu. Unfortunately it turned out to not work with
Ubuntu at all. While I wanted to try out from USB stick, the keyboard
and the mousepad weren't responding. I could put in an external USB
mouse
Some more problems with this model:
1. After suspend, the computer does not come up.
2. Even if a headphone jack is inserted, the main speaker does the talking.
Headphone is silent.
This is bad because Acer Aspire One is supposed to be a Ubuntu certified
hardware.
