After a reboot, everything was fine except that the old kernel was
loaded (2.6.27-11). I added manually an entry in grub
(/boot/grub/menu.lst) and now it seems to work correctly with the new
kernel (2.6.28.11). Maybe there is another problem that I haven't seen
yet.

Same problems here, black & white and as of 23 october the progress bar
is at the top. Resolution used (I believe), 640x480, default
usplash.conf and Radeon x1400 board.
Why is it so hard? The last month usplash has changed from not
displaying anything to displaying garbled images and now this. W
Forgot to mention, Intel Core 2 Duo, 64-bit too.

- I mount a remote share using smbfs.
- I copy 10 large (700MB each) files from the remote place to the local hard
drive (which uses DMA), using nautilus drag & drop

I also had this problem and finally found the answer in this thread.
Suggestion: just make firefox-3/xulrunner use the gconf DPI settings. My
screen has a DPI of 131 but I set it to 96 in the 'Apearance'
preferences to avoid having huge fonts everywhere. I didn't know firefox
had its own DPI setti

dialog is started, it locks up gnome. I can't CTL-ALT-DELETE to restart

Still happening for me on an up-to-date Karmic Koala Beta (Although
setting AutostartCondition=GNOME /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop
in /usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop seems to do the trick...)

Forgot to mention: Sleep/Resume seems to work when resuming after only
some minutes (< 10) in sleep. Kernel Oops! after sleeping for longer
than 10 minutes...

Yep, the fix from #16 worked for me. I wasn't expecting that change to
apply to MPlayer and VLC, but it did. I'm ready to rock! And by rock, I
mean watch "Slayer - War at Warfield"...

I certainly don't agree with you Brett, because the amount of posts in
this bugreport clearly shows that there are quite a few people who use
the feature... I agree though that the issue should be fixed properly.

I turn the desktop off for several reasons: 1) I don't need desktop
icons. 2) As others already mentioned the context-menu which nautilus
offers is completely useless (I remember that there used to be an entry
to start a terminal at least, that was in GNOME 2.18 or something). 3)

My x301 behaves exactly like David's x200 as long as gnome-power-manager
is running and im resuming while running on battery power. If I kill
gnome-power-manager I can also resume my system when running on battery.
Hope this gets fixed for the final release.

I agree with both Rudiger and David. This is a huge loss of
functionality and a step backwards. I had grown quite accustomed to
frequently controlling my app indicators for Pithos, Caffeine, and
Transmission from HUD.
