I got a bit overtaken by events at the office, and am only getting to
play with this now. The livecd still does not boot, with seemingly
identical symptoms. I will take pictures during the boot process and
post them in a few minutes. For now, please see the attached dmesg

Leann,
Neither all_generic_ide nor acpi=off allowed to boot into LiveCD
environment. With acpi=off, the clocksource issue goes away, but the
boot process still fails and busybox loads from initramfs. Between the
last line of output from the boot process and the time busybox comes up,

I remember previous reports of firefox-3 crashing on pages containing flash

available for selection at this time, hence a new bug. No further info at this

It takes the boot process a while to figure out what to do with the

The bug is still present in Hardy Alpha 6. A workaround is to use the
fbdev driver in xorg.conf - this way X uses the framebuffer, which knows
how to handle this video chip correctly, at the expense of acceleration.

This bug is present in Hardy Beta as well. Additionally, the screen

figure out what causes that.

Thank you for your suggestions. I've erased and re-used the LiveCD,

Pedro,
Thank you for getting back to me. A surefire way of triggering this
crash appears to be to try to switch to a different flash video clip
while a flash video player is running. It is reproducible in a brand
new ff profile. I am actually unsure FlushPendingEvents() is the

Oops, sorry, I misread the description above. What I should have said
was I was unsure my crash was related to FlushPendingEvents, and
therefore belonged in this thread at all. Reported as a new bug now. I
apologize for the confusion.

I second the bug report. Version 1.2.1 installed from Karmic

can get that in Ubuntu if it works?

There seem to be several duplicates of this bug, so I will post here;
the error message matches exactly. The error appeared shortly after I
