NetworkManager freezes my system while connecting to my network (not
secured, just one acces-point) via my USB wireless key which has a
Sis162u chipset managed by ndiswrapper.
Some lucky times it works, but it freezes 99% of the time;

In Intrepid mounting NTFS partitions as a simple user is too dificult; it needs
editing /etc/fstab or so, and using the terminal. There should be a graphical
application for root to enable / disable mounting local partitions.

After a partial upgrade from karmic to the latest version, yesterday, my
system locks up at startup when loading the Xorg server. I tried to boot
from the recovery mode and did "startx". It crashes. I tried to start
gdm, it locks up.

When I try to launch photorec from the testdisk package in karmic I get

photorec: error while loading shared libraries: libntfs.so.10: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
I researched in which package was this file and
I couldn't mount removable medias recognized as sdb1 utils removing related
line in /etc/fstab. This line wanted to mount them as CDROM iso format on
/media/cdrom0

I could see that dbus and hal are not involved in this bug.
I saw that NetworkManager causes the freeze. I removed it and Ubuntu
start normally.
I'm using ndiswrapper with a Sis163u chipset. NetworkManager is very
strange because sometimes it freezes, sometimes it doesn't. Every thing
works nice,
To encounter the problem, I do :
- start the computer
- let loading ubuntu
- wait for graphical interface to load
What happens :
- Instead of loading GDM interface, a black screen appears and the
computer is looked
What should happen :
- load GDM and not lock

this bug is very important and is still not corrected. I'm starting to hesitate
migrating people on Ubuntu. Hey ! Ubuntu 9.10 is now a stable release and
playing is hard while it used to work ! I already had problems on Jaunty too.
Fortunatly, Ubuntu Hardy LTS was good, but no ext4 on it.

This issue seems to be caused by libopenal + pulseaudio. No issue on Debian
which I'm using now.
No need of pulseaudio, alsa works well, but on the last Ubuntu, we cannot even
remove pulseaudio to test.

sometimes.
This issue is not present at all in debian testing which is using ALSA and not
