Hooray! I got the nvidia-glx-new running! The only thing I've done is to
make an 'apt-get clean' and install the restricted modules and the
nvidia-glx-new package. It seems that Hardy use the old restricted
modules for the 2.6.22.14 kernel from Gutsy with the 2.6.24.16 kernel. I

Ok, ok, I have solved my problem. In Ubunut 7.10 the default GUI-backend for
matplotlib was TKagg, in 8.04 it is GTKagg,
which needs a special python shell to work correctly in interactive mode.
So I switched back to TKagg and everything works in the right manner.

I have the same problem on two machines, one is running Ubuntu64 and the
other Kubuntu64. I can only use the nv driver. With the NVIDIA-driver I
get the same issue with VESA and so on. With startx I get the message as

I have also a 3Com PCI 3c905 Boomerang and it is the same problem. My PC
runs 24h 7d a week. Sometimes after 5, sometimes after 1 day it stop
working due to this behavior. Everytime I have to reboot because my home

logged messages, and than re-insert r8169 module.
Last system update was about a half hour ago.

Ok, with GDM turned off I see that notebook not halts completely - just network
interface is going down. ifdown/ifup helps to restore connection, but anyway
transfer is broken.
No records to syslog while going down. Bringing it up produces heap of messages
from NetworkManager.
Kernel: 2.6.20-13
Before kernel 2.6.20-12 primary sata hdd was recognized as /dev/hdg, and
with this kernel it is /dev/sda.
I think that issue/feature is fixed now.

I've noticed that if there is no other network activity big files than I
can copy big files (1.5GB) over the network from laptop. With Gaim and
Evolution (and listening internet-radio) system crashes.
Will try to operate without X and monitor conditions.
Btw, kernel is 2.6.20-12-generic now.

Well, the boot params are root=/dev/sda5 ro locale=ru_RU, quiet and splash was
removed to see what's going on.
The system boots and stops after hdd (on the screen). After a minute it gives

Ok, I setup my pc at home (Corei7-860, 8GB, GeForce7600GS) with a fresh

I have the same problem after upgrading to Karmic RC1. I can delete the
lockfile, but everytime I start firefox it apears again and I get the
message ´Firefox is allready running ...´

I'm using a Lenovo T400s and have the same problems with KDE4.3 on
Jaunty. Neither Fn+F4 nor Fn+F12 works. Under Gnome everything is fine.
I prefer KDE and these bug is a very annoying thing. It would be very,
very nice if it gets fixed. Please.

After upgrading from 16.04 to 18.04 synaptic failed to start. I get it
to work from the command line with xhost + and sudo, but pkexec fails.
It only shows the build in commandline authentication, but that fails
obviously because of it is not a registered agent for polkit.

No, it doesn't work. I have to restart ypbind before login. The same
bug arises some weeks before in 11.10 and was fixed after 2 weeks. The
bug is very annoying. Please fix it soon. I'm using a rather up to date
system (12.04 with latest patches).

I use the firetray plugin with firefox and thunderbird. I have

me with fsck.ntfs for my two windows partitions? It's not a solution to say

I'm using linux-image-2.6.38.10 from natty and I tried also 2.6.39 - the
problem still remains. With 10.10 I didn't have had this issue. Please
fix it, it floods my console with these annoying message and makes the
use of it impossible despite the use of this joystick.

boot options when boot from cd, but when ubuntu is starting screen gets black
and no more video output. After desktop is loaded i hear standart ubuntu sound
(still no video output).

The new package ppa2 does not work as expected in Maverick. After every
start I have to do a dpkg-reconfigure resolvconf. Otherwise
/etc/resolv.conf is a dead link. Then I have to restart networking an
NIS. This is very annoying. I thing the ppa1 was good.
