Got random hangups using nvidia-glx 100.14.11+2.6.22.3-11.3 with linux-image-2.6.22-11-generic 2.6.22-11.32. It is happening with and without compiz running, hangups was started just after jumping from 0.9x to 100.x version of video driver and corresponding kernel update.
Rolled back to linux-image-2.6.20-15-generic 2.6.20-15.27 / nvidia-glx- new 1.0.9755+2.6.20.5-15.20 I think it may be cause shared irq widely used in notebooks.
