After a re-install from scratch, the problem did NOT present itself.
Probably the error was due to some corrupted configuration file or
something alike.

I apologize if I did not followed up on my report, but I have been busy
in the last few days.
I have found (apparently at least) that my case was due to the "Alexa
Sparky" addons. Maybe it was querying its server too often (making FF
hanging to wait for the results).
I have been using FF few days

Every time I log off from KDE I get a window that reports that update-
notifier-kde has crashed.
I have Kubuntu 8.10 64 bits. KDE 4.2 upgraded as for

Hi,
I am also affected by this bug as you can see my output above. I confirm
the symptoms of n0dwis. To stay connected I have to reconnect my wifi
frequently. In the long run the reconnections cause a deadlock and I
have to force a reboot.
