Indeed this did not help. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling, after
having deleted the configuration several times, even following your advice in
other bug thread I read.
Luckily, almost by hazard, I found another bug line where you gave us so
I must add something to USB issue.
I cannot assure it, but almost in every occasion that the USB devices
"disappeared" from my system, it usually happened when the computer ran out of
batteries while suspended, and when restarted there were no more USB devices

Sorry, I should add that the directories that can't be modified during
installation (or uninstallation) of most programs are all directories
and subdirectories related to menu and usr, but also in other
directories although in the ones related to menu for the most...

My case is a bit different. When I login to Ubuntu it only asks me once for the
password. When I am already logged in, however, and the screensaver activates,
