Hello,
Finally I found you. I have been more than one month crazy looking for the
reason why my upgrade to Karmic Alpha 6 made disappear suddenly my USB
connections. I even created a bug without any reply from the kind people from
Canonical. Until I found you.
Strangely in the beginning my USB were recognised from time to time, but in the
last two weeks very rarely I have been able to connect anything to my LG X110.
On the other side, in Ubuntu 9.04 everything was fine and smooth.
I even reinstalled a few times UNR and Kubuntu Netbook 9.10, with MUCH trouble
to get the USB or the CD Lives recognised by the netbook.
I have tried everything, I update twice a day, I have the last kernel 2.31.15,
and nothing proved successful, except what I have tried a few minutes ago:
blacklisting my uvcvideo as shown in post 28.
In my case there is a small difference. I did not try the webcam with the
Jaunty, since I don't usually use it, but before I blacklisted the uvcvideo it
did not work at all, so I don't get handicapped by blacklisting it. For me it
is much more important to have USB access to my USB disks, memories and
CD/DVDs, obviously. I can finally take a deep breath and relax, because I could
not work properly without USB, as you can imagine.
What keeps me really disappointed is the Canonical's attitude. This is not a
minor gap, but something really serious, specially because with a netbook you
get isolated without USB, and it does not show the argued interest in netbooks,
as per Canonical's statements.
I am a newbie in Linux/Ubuntu (I had tried in the past but only with the 9.04 I
have 100% converted to Linux), and it has disappointed me terribly the so many
problems that you should manage, without Canonical's assistance. Four months
ago I did not know anything at all about Linux and I have become a very good
domestic expert in Ubuntu and Linux due to these many unresolved problems.
Thank you guys. You saved me really today.
P.S.: For Knuutsen, there is no solution to this problem by updating anything.
You must have done something else, but my LG X110 has only been able to
recognise back my USB devices by blacklisting the uvcvideo...
Best regards,
Antonio
