There was an update of the linux kernel image today for Ubuntu Hardy.
When I run it, everything loads fine except for the graphics. Xserver
goes into low graphics mode and the xorg.conf file gets ignored. It says
that the hardware could not be determined correctly.

When using setkeycodes to set the keys, the keys work but the keyboard
is stuck (more specifically it seems to think the Fn key stays pressed)
when i restart X server it works again, until I use one of the broken Fn
keys.

I seem to have the same problem with my Samsung P560 laptop.
When I press Fn-up or Fn-down there is an indication that the brightness-level
is changed, but it doesn't.
When I try to use the hal-system-lcd-get-brightness script I get: 10:
hal-functions : not found
I used to change the brightness
side note: when booting wth 2.6.27-7 the brightness file is there, if i
boot with 2.6.27-11 it isn't.

If any of you have the same problem as me I found a kernel patch (
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12021 ) which forces keyrelease
events for certain keys.
The only problem is that it is for the NC10, I modified it to suit my keys.

ah just a small formatting error :) keys release now.
But:
Wlan toggle (FN+F9) doesn't work, brightness (FN+Up/Down) doesn't change (even
though the bar is shown), backlight toggle (FN+F5) also doesn't work, FN+F3
doesn't do anything. but at least the keyboard doesn't get stuck on any of
those
buzz, which rc kernel did you install?
I installed 2.6.32-020632rc7-generic and added the line you mentioned to
rc.local but it doesnt change the behaviour.

I agree with buzz and can confirm that one still needs to insert the
keys needing the forced key release.
Also, the main reason why this bug was opened, the brightness does not
change and sadly the nvclock or smartdimmer method is not an option for
me (p560 has Intel GMA4500X)

whenever i try to run liferea an empty window appears, only to disappear
and crash liferea. Running liferea from commandline returns returns a
segfault.
I am using current ubuntu karmic 32 bit beta with all updates on a
samsung p560 plavos laptop

it did work for a short time, another update messed it up again :)

While the keycode bug has been fixed in previous releases of ubuntu, I still
cannot set the brightness with my p560 plavos (intel gma)
as noted previously, the osd comes up but there is no change to brightness.
