I have Acer Aspire 5515 with ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200
Series] video on Ubuntu 9.04. The Backlight keys are working as they
should with gnome-power-manager running. Could point to a difference
between the video adapters. Hope this helps.

I had a similar issue that occurred after going from 8.04 to 8.10 and
continued into 9.04. The only way i fixed it was with a complete wipe
and clean install. I tried everything on ubuntuforums.org. After a
clean install the sound worked flawlessly. I also use Intel HDA driver.

Probably related to the other Acer Asipre resume issues but not sure.
My laptop went into suspend mode and couldn't get it back out. The caps

I can confirm that the modified driver source submitted by emory on
2010-09-28 works perfectly in Ubuntu Maverick-32 and also in Mint 10-64.
What's it gonna take to get support added to the kernel? (I second #96's
idea!!) [I'm the same person from comment #75 also]

I wiped my computer and installed Ubuntu 9.10 amd64. Driver dated
2009_1214 compiled and worked. Did the distribution upgrade to 10.04
and recompiled and it worked. Upgraded to 10.10 and tried to recompiled

I own this hardware and was able to get it working also with the 3572
driver dated 12/2009 on various kernels up to 2.6.32-* but after moving
to 2.6.35 kernels it will not compile because of errors that I posted on
