Public bug reported:
The file /etc/ld.so.conf has the following:
include /etc/ld.so.conf.d/*.conf
The ld.so.conf.d directory (Feisty) has this file in it:
i486-linux-gnu
which does not have a .conf extension, therefore it is not called. This
file then points to:
/lib/i486-linux-gnu
/usr/lib/
I have had a grub timeout issue ever since I got Edgy (have not tried
Feisty, but it uses the same grub ver) -- grub timeout occurs randomly
and appears to be some sort of race condition, for example having a CD
in the drive will slow down the BIOS enough to change whether the
timeout begins countd
FWIW I wonder if there is a more general problem with KDE apps going
into the Gnome system tray, as I have had issues for months now on
Edgy/Gnome 2.16.1 with Konversation putting it's icon into the Gnome
tray. Sometimes I get it, sometimes no icon with a blank spot, and
sometimes as an icon in th

I have an Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 motherboard, running Ubuntu 12.10 and
3.5.0-26-generic kernel, and was getting the typical "[Firmware Bug]:
cpu 1, try to use APIC500 ..." error message(s) on a Resume from
suspended state. Adding the "acpi_skip_timer_override" option to
/etc/default/grub GRUB_CMD
Re: #17 -- Now I am getting the error message even with
acpi_skip_timer_override option.

I have an EMU Tracker Pre USB audio interface and was experiencing the
muted audio after suspend in Ubuntu 12.04, and after removing /usr/lib
/pm-utils/sleep.d/01PulseAudio the interface would crash (all lights on)
and the computer would hang coming out of suspend until the interface
was disconnect
Since the EMU Tracker Pre USB is an external device, I have two sound
"card" devices, the other being built in to the motherboard. I mention
this because in additon to the mute-after-suspend problem, the default
sound card selected in the Unity sound indicator changes intermittently
after waking f
I ran Check disc for defects on the 13.04 Beta 2 amd64 image and it
checked OK, and then used it to install without any problems. I did the
same with a 13.04 Beta 2 i386 image and the iso md5sum was OK, the burn
was OK, the burn verify was OK, but the Check disc for defects resulted
in a hang, and
I have now had an occurence of the EMU Tracker Pre locking up with all
lights on when the 01PulseAudio file is present, and this event produced
no audio devices/outputs listed in System Settings -> Sound -> Ouput
(there should be at least 5 between the built-in and external audio
devices). This is
This morning I booted kernel 2.6.35-25 in Maverick and pressed the
Escape key 4 times (varies, see above) to continue the boot. I waited
approximately 20 to 30 seconds after each "hang" before pressing Escape
again. Here is the interesting part of the dmesg for this boot attempt:
[4.342743]
The mouse on this system (per comments above), a Microsoft USB "Basic
Optical Mouse", was replaced with a Logitech Wireless M505 (which uses
the Logitech Unifying USB receiver) and now exhibits a new behaviour:
the system still hangs on boot-up but as soon as the mouse is moved the
system continues
I spoke to soon, with the new mouse/Unifying Receiver, it not only hangs
(sometimes?), but locks up the keyboard so that I can't press Escape and
continue booting. Put the old mouse back on.

I am also seeing long pauses on boot-up of Maverick (and Lucid was doing
it too, before the upgrade), and I use the escape key to continue,
however the number of times I press the escape key varies distinctly
from 1 to 6 times, so this is probably a race condition. There is
usually a dmesg entry r
