I upgraded to the 9.04 ubuntu version.
I start a java webstart application that uses socket connections to communicate
between server and client.
This has always worked before, but now, after the upgrade, at a certain moment
when the server sends back an object I get this ex

Happening to me too, using Ubuntu 8.04 on a Dell 1501; the bit rate goes
back to 1 mbps.. Interestingly enough it'll stick for maybe one or two
boots and then get shunted back. Nuisance, it is.

I'm having the same problem on my HP xw4400 Workstation ... Freezing of my

It appears tm-o got it right: I installed libpam-gnome-keyring on my
Lubuntu 12.10, re-logged in, and now the auto-unlock checkbox was

I only have one cpu :) ... my Asus is already 5 years old, and still working
like a charm with the latest Ubuntu
If just that stupid kacpid problem would go away ..

looks like I finally found a solution
I removed powernowd
sudo aptitude purge powernowd
And now my laptop is not running into the high cpu usage for kacpid
Hope this fixes it for good .

I don't know what happened, but (after update?) things are -currently-
looking a lot better. My asus still overheats from time to time (typical
for asus apperently) and then kacpid kicks in, but now, instead of
staying up there hogging my cpu, it falls back into the small cpu-usage
category.

Hello,
I'm also having these problems on and off.
All of a sudden kacpid takes up to 80% and more, the temperature starts rising
and reaches up to levels of 93°. crossing of course my max temp level and
kicking in the fan at full speed, really anoyingly.
