The installation was destroyed by an XP problem, but the new install just

happened
was a 1px green outline went around the outside of my screen and
everything but the mouse froze. I had to go to tty1 via Ctrl-Alt-F1 to
restart. If I drag the launcher to the desktop and open it from there,
it works fine.
